Golden sunshine cast  heated   rays upon the two riders that drifted through the
valley below it,       glinting temptingly off of bodies of water that cut through the
land. Smaller rivers, local ponds, all offering a bit of reprieve from the heat that
warmed the day to the point of being sweltering.   As it was,     Will had already
muttered low oaths in response to the heat coupled) with the jackets that were
deemed a part of his uniform.      He often wondered how it was possible to have
remained on this stretch of land for so long without growing   accustomed to the
summer months, though he never seemed to come up with a  suitable  answer.

His thought process came to a halt after a moment as his steed’s stride   faltered,
hoof caught at the edge of a (precarious) root that sent them both a bit off balance.
Will released a small noise of shock at the sudden jerk, letting loose on his reigns
to give his horse the leeway it needed to pry itself free.   After a moment,     it had,
and Will patted the side of it’s neck encouragingly,      giving it a small nudge with
his heels to resume motion.  Glancing upwards, his brow furrowed as he realized
that in the small moment it had taken him to get his horse back on track,   the girl
he was meant to be looking after had vanished from his sight.   A quick jab of his
heels sent his horse trotting forwards, encouraged to canter after Will discovered
she was more than a few paces ahead.

A clearing loomed up ahead, and through a break in the trees, Will caught sight
of brown tresses swaying in the wind.   Breathing a sigh of relief,   he headed in
that direction, marveling only briefly at the beauty of the clearing itself.    He led
the horse back into a trot as they approached,   halting all together once he was
a few strides behind the princess.

“You needn’t ride so far, your highness. One never knows what dangers
may be lurking just out of sight.”
