How did I manage to let you talk me into THIS

Will hisses between gritted teeth, eyes DARTING about nervously, all faux smiles as he HOPES that the one person he and Jack are HIDING from doesn’t find them. Flasks of RUM weigh heavily in his pockets, STRETCHED far wider than they should be. He supposed he should have EXPECTED this from the man beside him. After all, Captain Jack Sparrow was often known for his SCHEMING. And yet, he’d not been QUITE prepared for this.

When she finds us, and she WILL find us, I’m
telling her this was YOUR idea.

SURE steps traipsed across the wooden floor, STEEL gripped in an
EXPERIENCED hand.  There’s a note of AMUSEMENT just visible
in his eyes, though he tries to tone it  DOWN.  It doesn’t help that his
opponent  seems  to be having  DIFFICULTY  with his footwork,  let
alone holding the sword PROPERLY.  Lips  quirk  upwards,  hidden
     behind a BITTEN lip.

“ As much as you PREFER your pistol, the bullets you NEED
aren’t available  HERE.  If you’re to
( survive )  in this time,
learning how to COMMAND  a sword is a necessary evil.

“ Unless it gets in the way of what he wants out of this.
Gibbs mentioned that he spent ten years without his
            ship. ”

At his question, Anamaria scrutinised him for a moment before
    raising an eyebrow.

“ Why do you think you’re still here? He clearly needs
you for something. If I were you I’d find out what that
             is. ”

The comment brought Will up short, the inner  turmoil  he faced showing
clear on his features.   He often found himself wanting to believe that there
was  GOOD  that existed in everyone, that moral values  guided  them in
moments of confusion.    But Jack Sparrow was not someone he’d known
for long, nor someone he particularly trusted.     And yet, he hesitated to
dismiss him so quickly. Despite that, he knew it’d be FOOLISH to ignore
the words of someone that had known Jack longer than he had.

“ Leverage…” He whispered, the comment he’d overheard
coming back to him.    “ But we’ve only just met. I already
did my part by setting him free. What else could he want?”

“ Providing we make it that far. And if he’s after the Pearl
then what about that girl you want to rescue? Whatever
promises he made to you, he’s only in this for himself. ”

image

“ I’d like to believe Jack wouldn’t abandon her. She saved
his life, I’d like to think he’d do the same. But what would
            you suggest I do? ”

“ –Partially, yes.  I was also not expecting to
receive such a question so please do pardon my
                              rather shocked reaction.”

“ It is nothing more than a simple favor. A small request,
if you will.         And I can guarantee it won’t come back
back on you.      Rather, I can somewhat guarantee it. ”

Will watched with  barely concealed amusement as the astonishingly
sloshed man swaggered towards the open window, liquid courage flowing
through his veins as he insisted to the lively crowd that he could, in fact, fly.
A bark of laughter escaped Will as he watched the faces of those closest to
the man, most of them tremendously drunk themselves, or torn between
wanting to watch what was about to happen or tear the man from the window.
It didn’t seem as though any of it was necessary, for in the end, the man
simply fell backwards onto his back, loud snores erupting from his open
mouth far too quickly than should have been healthy. Will’s laugh was
swallowed by the laughs of those around him, all amused by the man’s
antics. Will didn’t envy the pounding headache he was sure to have in the
morning.

“ Yes, but moreso to themselves, it seems.”

“ How will you ensure that? If you believe you can make
Jack Sparrow do anything he doesn’t want to do, you’re
        foolish. ”

image

“ I wouldn’t assume that. We’ll just have to ensure he
gets the ship he’s looking for. He’ll have no need for
this one if he has the Pearl. ”

( ♞ | Norrington )

Norrington pushed past Will with a grunt, speaking well after he
had passed the man, no longer caring who heard of his DISGRACE.
He was ruined as it was, and had no intentions of returning to Port
Royal in his lifetime, and was just as certain that those in Port Royal
would not be following him to where he intended to hide out and
extract his revenge on the man who had ruined him.

“ Indeed, Mister Turner, I should think
you glad to see me go. ”

image

Will’s stomach sank     unpleasantly as the former Commodore
pushed past him,     the line of his back still proud.    Will could still see
the traces of anger in his stride,    barely contained but noticeable since
Will had known him from his youth.      There was a stark change in the
man Will had seen then, and the one that stood before him now. Despite
that,  a tinge of
( indignation ) rolled over Will at Norrington’s comment,
brows furrowing.

“ I wouldn’t wish your fate on anyone. Good men died,
some of which I assume were friends of yours. If
that is the cost of your departure, then no, I can’t
say I’m glad at all. ”

“ You don’t know him as well as I do. If you did, you’d
know that he never keeps to his word. Do you really
think he wouldn’t sell us all out to save his own skin? ”

image

“ I’m sure he would, and I expect it. But it was I who
initially promised you the ship, and I’ll see to it that
           you get it. ”
