character in general: James Norrington basically makes me weep because he’s dealt such a difficult hand and his life is just so incredibly unfair. I love his character for being so morally good, even if there’s times when my muse doesn’t. He’s just a wonderful character that I wish had gotten a bit more screen time tbh how they play them: Emily does so well with all of her muses that it’s no surprise that she’s managed to capture Norrington’s voice so well. I’ve never been left wanting when it comes to reading her replies the mun: Incredibly kind and very accepting, Emily was one of the first people to welcome me into the fandom when I was still incredibly shy and new. STORY OF MY LIFE. Especially Disney movies, it’s usually a weird day if I don’t quote a Disney movie or sign a song from one of the movies. I also have a tendency to quote Spongebob. I am, in fact, an adult. Basically I have a love for speaking in quotes in general.
Norrington’s confident, angry strides faltered, and he stopped, with his back still turned to Will. His head bent forward, nearly touching his chest with his chin as he attempted ( successfully ) to rein in his emotions to keep up the unruffled facade he’d been hiding behind nearly all his life. Still turned away from the man, Norrington spoke. His voice hardly faltered; it’s STEADINESS resigning himself to his own and Turner’s respective fates.
“ Your concern is admirable, but it only serves toprove my need to leave is still more necessary. I won’t be pitied, Mister Turner. ”
“ You mistake sympathy for pity, sir. But far be it from me to keep you somewhere you’d rather NOT be. I do hope that your new destination offers you some…solace. I dare say you’ve earned it.”
It was in moments such as these that Will wished for a SMALL amount of naivety, that he could truly believe that James would find happiness. Instead, he found himself wondering if the former Commodore knew HOW to live outside of the Royal Navy. He didn’t believe he wanted to know the answer. When he spoke again, it was with a RESIGNED tone, a touch of something akin to sadness and GUILT hidden just ( beneath ) the surface.
Norrington pushed past Will with a grunt, speaking well after he had passed the man, no longer caring who heard of his DISGRACE. He was ruined as it was, and had no intentions of returning to Port Royal in his lifetime, and was just as certain that those in Port Royal would not be following him to where he intended to hide out and extract his revenge on the man who had ruined him.
“ Indeed, Mister Turner, I should think you glad to see me go. ”
Will’s stomach sank unpleasantly as the former Commodore pushed past him, the line of his back still proud. Will could still see the traces of anger in his stride, barely contained but noticeable since Will had known him from his youth. There was a stark change in the man Will had seen then, and the one that stood before him now. Despite that, a tinge of ( indignation ) rolled over Will at Norrington’s comment, brows furrowing.
“ I wouldn’t wish your fate on anyone. Good men died, some of which I assume were friends of yours. If that is the cost of your departure, then no, I can’t say I’m glad at all. ”
“ You don’t understand. I have been dismissed from the Navy, if such a polite term can be applied to the situation. I have been stripped of my commission, title, and any standing I ever had in this community. Half of my men are dead by my hand, and the others reassigned to other ships as the have no desire to see me again. The Dauntless is at the bottom of the sea, and Jack Sparrow has sailed off to see another day. Can you truly find no reason for me wanting to leave?”
The real impact of the Commodore’s ( If the title was properly applicable anymore ) words left Will at a loss, any words of comfort he’d wanted to offer dying on his lips. For once he hated being on the ( outskirts ) of societal gossip, resisting the urge to cringe as his words looped back around in his ears. How hollow they sounded now that he knew the ENTIRE truth. There seemed to be nothing else that he could say, other than a simple phrase that felt far too empty.
“ Somehow I don’t think he’d see it that way. Elizabeth would also probably want to say goodbye if this is the last time you’ll be in Port Royal. Surely there’s no real reason for you to need to leave.”
“ Let me assure you straight from the source that they are not perceived in the slightest. I think your efforts would be better put towards your fiance than myself. Do pass on my regardsto the Swanns, won’t you? ”
“ Elizabeth is more than capable of taking care of herself for however long I’m here. Do you not plan on saying goodbye yourself? Not even to Governor Swann? ”
“ It’s more ofa very firm request than any sort of plan on my part, Mr. Turner. You need not concern yourself with it; it’s beyond the power of anyone.
“ I’m surprised you didn’t hear of it; I assumed everyone would be wanting to rub my shortcomings in my face. ”
“ I make a point of avoiding gossip, & I’m not exactly a fan of waving around one’s… perceived failures. Where is it you plan on going?”

With no family or title to speak of, William Turner has made his life in Port Royal by working hard and keeping his head down. Societal expectations are quite high in this small town, and as a result, Will attempts to abide by them around those of high status as he knows reputation is everything. However, he does find it in himself to let loose with the friends he’s made around the town, those whom he trusts.

Will’s life is completely disrupted by the arrival of pirates in Port Royal, and turned on it’s head when they leave with Elizabeth Swann as their captive. Unable to wait for the navy to locate the woman he loves, Will enlists the help of Captain Jack Sparrow to find the Black Pearl. Unaware of what he’s walking into, Will eventually learns that his father was a pirate and that he willingly left his family for piracy. Unsure of how to handle the new information that his father was a pirate, Will squashes down any current hatred in exchange for finding Elizabeth. Nevermind that it requires acts of piracy as well, Will follows after Captain Jack Sparrow and learns a bit more about himself than he would’ve liked.
A PIRATES LIFE FOR ME ( dmc )
Will’s determination to remain what he considers a good man is put to the test when Lord Beckett demands he find Jack Sparrow’s compass in exchange for his and Elizabeth’s freedom. With no choice but to delve back into the world of piracy, Will faces obstacles in the forms of navigating the seas, encountering cannibals, and going up against Davy Jones himself. During his run in with Jones, Will finds his father aboard the Flying Dutchman, and promises to save his soul no matter the cost.

After Jack’s death, Will believes that any chance to save his father is lost along with his friend. However, Tia Dalma relays that there is a way to save both Jack and the Pearl, leading Will to do what must be done to bring the man back. Embracing what it means to be a pirate, Will begins placing his interests and goals above those of his crew. His actions and those of his fiance cause a large gap between the pair, one that isn’t explained until Jack is saved. Even so, the damage seems to be irreparable.

During the fight between The Brethren Court and the East India Trading Company, Will Turner lost his life at the hands of Davy Jones. With the help of Jack Sparrow, Will was able to stab the heart of Jones, and became the new Captain of the Flying Dutchman. Now, it is his responsibility to ferry the souls of the dead from this world to the next, a task he takes quite seriously. Though he and Elizabeth were married during the battle they knew might have ended their lives, Will could never ask Elizabeth to wait for him during the ten years it would take him to return to her. After their one day together, Will told Elizabeth to find her freedom, and in doing so also freed himself.

When all hope seemed lost, Bootstrap Bill found a way to break through the Dutchman’s hold on him and stab the heart of Davy Jones. Narrowly saving Will’s life and helping to end what might have been a full blown battle, Bootstrap became the rightful Captain of the Flying Dutchman. This left Will truly free in a way he hadn’t been before, and now the world is his for the taking.

Cruel and unforgiving, William Turner has sacrificed his crew for a new one, eliminating his father in the process.

Despite the usual struggles that came with living in the system, Will managed to find work doing small jobs around London. Working as a handyman hasn’t left him rolling in money, but he’s able to afford a small apartment on the outskirts of the city. It serves him well, and he’s rather prideful of having something to call his own.

After Captain Jack Sparrow was killed by Davy Jones’ kraken, Will and a few others embark on a journey to bring said Captain back. Though successful, returning to the land of the living proves to be something of a challenge. During this process, Will winds up losing his hold on the ship he’s on as she’s pulled through to the world she belongs in. For all Will knows, one moment he was aboard the Black Pearl, and the next, he’s sputtering by a river that cut through a landscape unlike any he’s seen before. One thing’s for certain – he certainly isn’t home anymore.
